Abstract:
A review of the literature on coupling reveals that coupling coefficients have not been given a general definition nor has their physical significance been well explained, particularly for systems with antireciprocal or gyroscopic coupling. A new definition of coupling coefficient is proposed in which the coupled systems are viewed as having a forward transmission path and a feedback path and the coefficient are defined as the values of the feedback return ratio with reference to the coupling element which are positive maximum with variations in load and frequency.
