A brief description is given of the Swac National Bureau of Standards western automatic computer. Information which is presented on the elements of Swac coding includes the meanings of the 13 Swac commands, the coding details of a simple routine Swac is to compute the exact values of n2 for n 1150 and type out n and n2, the use of sum and difference checks for detecting and correcting machine failures, arithmetic checks to make sur the routine is working properly, the use of breakpoint output to halt the computer and the use of the breakpoint digit to interrupt a routine at a predetermined point, and remarks on input and output coding. The steps are given for putting the coded problem on Swac. Seven exercises are presented to develop competance in Swac programming.
