Abstract:
Dynamic analyses are presented of the deformation of 2 types of structures which are assumed to have internal resistance of the firmo-viscous type and to be subjected to side blast loading. The structures are 1 a multistoried building consisting of a series of massive floors, each of which is supported atop shear frames connecting the successive floors, and 2 a pile of rigid blocks cemented together and intended to simulate massive masonry blocks attached to each other by a viscous material. The dynamic analysis is superior to statistical analyses which give surmises of structural damage. The analysis appeared of value for multistoried buildings, but suitable stress-strain laws must be determined for particular cases. Data is needed on structural damping.
