Abstract:

The meningopneumonitis virus inhibited solid tumors initiated by depositing Krebs-2 ascites tumor cells under the skin of the mouse. The tumor suppression was less when immune mice were employed. Aureomycin had in vitro effect on the virus particle, but it affected virus multiplication by extending the latent period. The use of heterologous, heated, unwashed viruses in the absorption method revealed specific complement-fixation activity. KIO sub 4 brought out a specific complement-fixing component in live viruses. Experiments involving purification of a virus and determination of susceptibility of crude and purified preparations to heat and KIO sub 4, suggested the presence of at least 2 group reactive components.
