The Practical Performance Tests PPT were administered to 725 men serving aboard submarines, to determine the tests practicability for measuring the quality of shipboard performance of Navy enlisted men. The PPT was composed of simulated actual job situations using standard Navy equipment, and it tested operational, identification, procedural, and diagnostic ability. Written job-knowledge and safety tests were included in the composite test batteries. Information on the reliabilities and interrelationship of the tests, observations made on the construction of performance tests, and results of correlational studies with other measures of shipboard performance are included. These job-sample performance tests appeared valuable for training, testing, and rating programs.
