Abstract:
The variation in echo signal from a 120-scale F-80 aircraft at 9000 mc. is described. Improvement in pattern repetition was obtained by relocating the model higher above the floor surface and elevating the line-of-sight from horn to target to an angle of 3.5 deg with the horizontal. Modifications of the measuring apparatus permitted the transmitting antenna polarization to be varied the receiving antenna polarization remained linear. The application of this technique to scattering matrix measurements is discussed. The effect of target symmetry on the cross-polarized linear echo and circularly polarized echo is considered.
