Abstract : While there is a considerable body of scientific knowledge on the principles for designing simulations, there is a gap in translating these principles into the pragmatics for designing large-scale, distributed, peer-to-peer federated simulations at the coalition level. CAGE IIIA successfully implemented a fully distributed, federated simulation environment that stimulated each nations C2 systems. This report describes the Distributed Simulation Design methodology that was developed and trialled by DSTO during the CAGE IIIA experiment to enable the pragmatics of designing & implementing a fully distributed, federated simulation environment.
