Abstract : The purpose of this study was to conduct an ecological index, early detection survey to identify and catalog native and nonindigenous species near naval facilities within the four hydrographic regions in the bay. Work was similar to a Rapid Assessment Survey (RAS) methodology and a team of taxonomists identified live specimens for 5 days. The focus of this study was to identify native, introduced, and cryptogenic species present on multiple natural and artificial habitats within the four hydrographic regions. The team collected and identified 6,477 organisms, with 299 species represented from 13 phyla. Species identified in this study were similar to those reported in previous studies; however, there were some differences in distribution within the bay. In addition, two previously unreported species were identified. Results presented will include the distribution of native and non-indigenous species identified from natural and artificial habitats within the four hydrographic regions.
