Abstract : The U.S. must use all of its instruments of power to assist the Sudanese governments in maintaining an environment where peace can flourish. However, if violence erupts, a peace agreement brokered under pressure from American combat forces will fail to be enduring and will destroy U.S. credibility in Africa.
