Abstract : The Prosthetics & Orthotics Manufacturing Initiative (POMI) was an ambitious program designed to give tools to the practitioners providing patient care to the nation's wounded warriors. The intent was to improve the design and manufacture of custom composite sockets. This was expected to improve the sockets produced, while at the same time reducing cost and labor input required from practitioners, allowing them to focus limited resources on patient care, including emerging best practices for the rehabilitation of those suffering from limb loss.
