Abstract : This TOP provides basic information to facilitate test planning, conducting, and reporting, and to achieve standardized chemical, biological, and radiological (CBR) contamination survivability testing of small items of mission-essential (ME) Army materiel. Small items, for example, include personal gear, small arms, radios, optical devices, small electrical generators, and small packages of materiel. This TOP describes typical facilities, equipment, and procedures used to contaminate small items of equipment, sample for contamination density, decontaminate, sample for residual contamination, determine ME function degradation resulting from contamination/decontamination procedures, and to assess the item operator/CBR protective gear compatibility. This TOP is to be used primarily for the testing of small items of equipment that are decontaminated by the individual Warfighter or by two-person or three-person teams operating portable and handheld decontaminating devices.
