Abstract : The problem we aim to solve is how to evaluate the dependability of software at the stage of architecture definition. Evidence, such as the process maturity, project environment and architecture documentation is already available and can be used for the evaluation. In order to create a holistic picture of the state of dependability, a Bayesian Network (BN) model is defined. The paper defines a quality framework which guides the model creation, identifies attributes characterising dependability and presents the topology of the model. The approach to the quantitative definition of the model is illustrated by examples. The model is aimed to help with conducting technical risk assessment of Airborne Mission Systems.
