Abstract : Processing for interferometric synthetic aperture sonar has been developed, and tested with both measured and simulated data. Interferometry is based on data from two vertically separated receive arrays. Subtle phase differences between the images from both arrays provide information on the relative height of objects in the observed scene. The results give confidence in the processing and provide insight into the limitations and options for improvement of the current processing suite. Eventually, the developed processing is expected to improve the detection of objects buried in the sea bottom.
