Abstract : Sometimes viewed as a quagmire of countless problems, Colombia may well be a country with no realistic approach to resolve its internal conflicts. Nevertheless, the United States remains Colombia's strongest supporter and advocate for changes in their country. But how strong is the nations commitment to Colombia? After Egypt and Israel, Colombia ranks third in receiving financial assistance from the United States. However, despite the substantial investment from the United States, results to date have been marginal at best. Therefore, this paper addresses these issues and offers recommendations based on a holistic approach to resolving Colombia's problems.
