Abstract : This report is part of an overall project to identify and evaluate alternative models for selecting and classifying soldiers into military occupational specialties. Tasks 1 and 2 of the project are documented in this report. More specifically, this document contains descriptions of the selection and job assignment processes in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force in terms of their intended design and operational reality. Subsequent to the description of current military selection and classification systems, alternative models are presented and evaluated along numerous qualitative dimensions. MOS, REQUEST, RDM, Classification, Job assignment, PROMIS, Tests, ASVAB CLASP, Selection, Classification algorithms.
