Abstract : The thermochemical properties of gas-phase transition metal monoxides are of interest in materials research, but are not well-known in some cases. We present in this report results from a study which was initiated to determine the dissociation energies of gaseous ZnO, CuO, and NiO using high temperature mass spectrometry. They observed no evidence for the presence of gaseous ZnO in any of these studies, and the derived dissociation energy is based on the detection sensitivity.
