Abstract : Our research has been concerned with visual surface representation and the manner in which visual image segmentation influences certain early visual processes such as stereopsis, motion correspondence, structure from motion, shape from shading, and the aperture problem. A number of new visual effects in our laboratory (e.g., motion capture, stereoscopic capture, etc.) have given us novel insights into the mechanisms underlying human motion perception and stereopsis.
