Abstract : Utilizing the Navy white paper From the Sea as the basis, Navy Logistics and the Joint Logistics Over the Sea System were examined to highlight logistical difficulties in carrying out littoral warfare as envisioned. Port accessibility to prepositioned shipping in Africa was reviewed to point out the probability of having to off load in stream and the potential difficulties this would impose on the theater commander. Lastly, suggestions were offered that may minimize potential difficulties involved in sustaining forces without the use of a port facility.
