Abstract : A method for producing a dispersion of a hard phase in a titanium alloy is being studied. The purpose of the hard phase, titanium carbide in this work, is to improve the wear and erosion resistance of the titanium matrix. The hard phase has been developed in a wide range of volume fractions by nonconsumable arc melting.
