Abstract : During the period of the grant we continued our modeling and analysis of the mechanical behavior of complex composite materials. We have developed analytical, and numerical modeling techniques of the influence of general composite laminate orientation on the ultrasonic behavior of anisotropic plates and substrates. in the second phase we introduced piezoelectric effects into our modeling. In the final phase we studied the dynamic response of the layered composite to transient-loadings in the form of time-dependent source loads. Complete documentation of the results of the first two phases were submitted to the AFOSR in the form of yearly reports. Since these reports contained completed items which also appeared in the literature as archival publications, we need not rereport them here. Results for the recently completed works have also been prepared for journal publication. Description of these works are included here in details.
