Abstract : The broad objectives were to carry out the basic epidemiologic studies necessary for the conducting of vaccine trials. In addition the grant was to be used to set up and maintain laboratory staff and facilities to perform support studies and to conduct clinical trials of vaccines as they become available. It was anticipated that the first vaccines to become available will be a bivalent E. coli-s. flexneri live oral vaccine, a killed hepatitis A vaccine, and vaccines prepared from gram-negative bacteria (Klebsiella, Pseudomonas)....
