Abstract : The vertical velocity structure of a cloud-topped atmospheric boundary layer, over land, was evaluated using high temporal vertical velocity measurements from two UHF clear-air Doppler radars (wind Profilers) on 20 March 1991 and 31 January 1992, located at Penn State's Circleville Farm site. On both dates, post-cold-frontal stratocumulus covered the area. A transition from a cloudy convective boundary layer to a clear convective boundary layer occurred on 20 March 1991. Vertical velocities were measured, at 30-second intervals, using the vertical beam of the profilers. Vertical velocities were averaged over hourly periods. Vertical velocity variance, Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR), and SNR variance were also evaluated for each hourly period
