Abstract : This thesis addresses a known problem in class scheduling at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS). The problem is the lack of an automated system capable of generating schedules for each academic quarter. This results in two Class Schedulers developing schedules manually through a trial and-error process which takes approximately six weeks to complete. A commercial software package, the Osiris School Administration System, is proposed to assist schedulers in developing schedules for students, instructors and classrooms. The software's capability is demonstrated on a smaller scheduling problem and its potential application to the NPS problem is analyzed.... School scheduling, Scheduling.
