Abstract : Low energy electron diffraction (LEED) and cyclic voltammetry were used to examine the surface structure of flame-annealed platinum (I 00), (II 0) and (II 1) electrodes. Well-defined LEED patterns were obtained for these surfaces but only after heat treatment in vacuo at 400 deg C in order to remove surface contaminants. The cyclic voltammograms correspond to those expected for these low index platinum surface from prior studies....
