Abstract : This paper summarizes the Wright laboratory In-House Laboratory Independent Research (ILIR) conducted to determine the feasibility of using inherent information, such as angle-of-arrival fluctuations of incident radiation and spreading of the focused spot size, obtained through the measurement of the diffraction limited aperture of the atmosphere, (r sub o) to adaptively optimize laser communications system parameters.
