Abstract : The effect of the sintering temperature, the sintering time and the addition of 5 wt. % silver on the average particle size, bulk density and the superconducting zero resistance temperature (Tc) YBa2CU306+x ceramic materials was investigated (a) in the range 880 - 940 deg C for 2 hours and (b) at 920 deg C for different times in the range 0-10 hours. The results suggest that while the density and particle size of the sintered ceramic increases with an increase of the sintering temperature (and 2 hours of sintering), prolonged sintering (at 9200C) above 4 hours of duration does not improve above properties. However, the superconducting zero resistance temperature (Tc) does not change significantly. In the presence of 5 wt. % silver, it appears that both sintering temperature and duration of sintering significantly improves the bulk density, particle size and (Tc) of YBa2CU30r6+x....
