Abstract : The second European Meeting on the Applications of Polar Dielectrics was held in April 1992 to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the dielectric Society, Recognising the rising importance of thin films of ferroelectrics for a wide range of applications, the meeting also incorporated the 1st International Workshop on Integrated Ferroelectrics. To facilitate international participation tile meeting was held at Imperial College, London. Over 1-50 delegates registered for the meeting from 27 countries. Unfortunately, attendance from Eastern Europe was limited by the present economic and political problems. However, the generous financial support provided by our sponsors enable the organisers to assist the attendance of many from this region and to provide reduced attendance costs for students. Reflecting the current extent of interest in dielectric materials, 175 abstracts were submitted. Topics ranged from stable ceramics for microwave applications to organic crystals and polymers with high non-linear electro-optical coefficients. About one sixth of the contributions were concerned with the preparation and properties of thin films, particularly those involving ferroelectric materials....
