Abstract : This report develops a model to quantify the performance of a search system in terms of the parameters which most directly affect that performance. This quantification necessitates a number of important simplifications, which are explicitly stated. A theory based on these simplifications is developed, and a parameterized summary of the performance of the AUSS is provided which may be used in its engineering and operation.... Search theory, Brownian theory, Reber theory.
