Abstract : At the request of the Defense National Stockpile Center (DNSC), the Defense Logistics Agency Operations Research Office developed the Annual Materials Plan Analysis Tool II (AMPAT-II). This uses the tools and concepts of applied mathematics and artificial intelligence to model the decision making processes that lead up to the computation of the Annual Materials Plan (AMP). These processes consider political, economic, and technical factors that involve many government agencies such as the Central Intelligence Agency and the Departments of State, Commerce, and Defense. Public law requires the President to submit the AMP to Congress each year, a responsibility that has been delegated to the Defense Logistics Agency for execution by the DNSC.
