Abstract : The importance of retrovirus testing in today's society demands that every effort be made to conduct testing in as rigid and uncompromising a manner as possible. As the complexity of retrovirus testing increases, the necessity for standardization also increases. The Seventh Annual Conference on Human Retrovirus Testing, sponsored by the Association of State and Territorial Public Health Directors (ASTPHLD) and held in Chicago, Illinois on March 3-5, 1992, recognized and addressed many of the issues relevant to retrovirus testing.
