Abstract : This report presents the conclusions of the Distributed Warfare Simulation project conducted during 1987 and 1988 for the Information Science and Technology Office of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), in RAND's National Defense Research Institute (NDRI). The NDRI is a federally funded research and development center sponsored by the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the Joint Staff. The project examined the prospects for distributed warfare simulation and the technical challenges that must be met if these prospects are to be realized.
