Abstract : Inversion of light scattering by a single spherical scatterer with or without a layered structure is studied. By numerical simulation of the statistical properties of experiments, we can select those angles that will maximize, the ability of the experiment to resolve a sphere from a layered scatterer. Applying statistical decision theory, we obtain a criterion for decision making that minimizes the probability of incorrect guesses....Invert, Spherical, Retraction, Scattering, Noise, Indices.
