Abstract : This report documents the field testing and refinement of a biographical inventory called the Leadership Effectiveness Assessment Profile (LEAP). The LEAP is designed to measure leadership and management potential, the ability to function well in team situations, propensity for commitment to the Air Force, and related attributes. Several iterations of LEAP field testing and refinement are discussed. In each case officer cadets or junior officers were used as subjects. Early field testing included gaining extensive feedback from subjects for instrument refinement. Thus, they became co-developers of the LEAP. Later field testing, when more subjects and some adequate criteria were available, involved more standard psychometric assessment. Field testing was moderately successful, although further work will be needed to prepare the LEAP for operational use.... Biodata, Leadership, Personnel selection.
