Abstract : Accurate prediction of the stresses, natural frequencies and mode shapes of rotating blades for compressors are essential to the performance of aircraft engines. The first objective of this project is to demonstrate that a preprocessor for the modeling of compressor blades with a wedge type root attachment is feasible. A user-friendly program was devised to be used with the minimum possible input that describes the geometry of different components. This program is called Blade Life Analysis and Design Evaluation (BLADE). The second objective was to run a sample blade through the BLADE software and compare the results with the ANSYS finite element program.
