Abstract : The analysis and design of massive concrete structures have been the object of much interest and study by the engineering community for many years. Recent advances in computer technology coupled with the advances in numerical modeling and analysis techniques have provided ever increasing abilities to perform complex structural analyses. Nonlinear, incremental construction analyses with time-dependent material properties can now be realistically performed giving the designer more insight into the behavior of the structures. This report provides information on the modeling, analysis, and results for the nonlinear, incremental construction of two monoliths of the Melvin Price Locks and Dam under thermal and gravity loadings. These monoliths were analyzed using a concrete material model which considers aging, creep, shrinkage and temperature effects.
