Abstract : A new class of electroviscous fluids was synthesized and found experimentally to display a 2000% increase in viscosity when placed under electric field strengths on the order of 2 kv/mm. Measured viscosity increases are directly proportional to applied field strength. The effect is very fast and appears to be reversible.
