Abstract : The design, construction, and integration of a computer controlled dc electric transmission in a 300 hp, 14 ton, M113 vehicle are described. The electric transmission was designed and built using off-the-shelf components: Bendix 12,000 r/min aircraft ac generators, rectifiers, Mawdsley 5,400 r/min dc traction motors, pulse width modulation motor field current controllers, and FMC two speed final drives. Tracked vehicles, test beds, drive-by-wire, electric drive, microcomputer control.
