Abstract : Numerical simulation of terminal ballistic events requires quantitative modeling of the complex material responses which are observed to occur experimentally. This report discusses current deficiencies and future needs for material modeling in this context and suggests some specific efforts which, in the opinion of the authors, could substantially improve the utility of simulation as a design and analysis tool for armor/anti-armor systems. terminal ballistics, armor, anti-armor ammunition, numerical methods, material modeling.
