Abstract : The synthesis of siloxide and silamide complexes of tantalum has been carried out and their reactivity with respect to bond breaking and aggregation phenomena has been studied. Types of reactions include carbon monoxide cleavage to dicarbides and ketenylidene, carbon monoxide reduction, ketyl formation, ether cleavage, ligation of pyridine and related adducts, hydrocarbon activations, routes to early metal nitrides, and formation of cubic tantalum nitride.
