Abstract : Designers' decision making in specifying adaptive aiding systems is considered. A study of design decision in specifying aiding for a fighter aircraft mission scenario is discussed. Results indicate a high degree of consistency on the part of individual designers. However, there was substantial variations among designers in terms of both decisions made and information used to make the decisions. The implications of these results for development of design tools, as well as the type of research studies whose results would be valued by designers, are considered.
