Abstract : This thesis explores dynamic reconfiguration and link fault tolerance in a Transputer network using software controlled crossbars. A message exchange system was designed, implemented and evaluated to facilitate various aspects of dynamic interconnectivity between processing nodes, as well as detection and recovery from failed network links without loss of data. As implemented, the message exchange can be embedded with application code which can direct network topology to facilitate code execution. (RRH)
