Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to identify and evaluate current and future Mapping, Charting and Geodesy MCG requirements in the DoD and to assess the capability of the Defense Mapping Agency to respond to those requirements with regard to equipment, organization and funding. The Task Force determined that DMA has made significant progress in accommodating ever- increasing demands for technical support, especially in processing digital data for use in modern weapon systems. The most significant recommendation made by the Task Force was that DMA now be authorized to commit funds in the 6.1 and 6.2 areas for internal technology base development.
