Abstract : The purpose of this study was to assess the ability of the investment casting industry to support the Army and the other services during peacetime, surge, and mobilization. The scope of the study included ferrous and nonferrous investment casting foundries in the United States and Canada. Medical, jewelry, and art foundries were excluded. The study also included a survey of prime defense contractors were excluded. The study also included a survey of prime defense contractors to obtain utilization data for investment castings.
