Abstract : Milford Lake was created by building a dam across the Republican River just north of Junction City. Project lands are situated in four counties (Geary, Clay, Dickinson, Riley). This report summarizes the results of a sample archaeological survey of the public use areas at Milford lake conducted between elevations 1146.37 and 1147.54 ft. Eighteen previously recorded prehistoric sites were known. Although only two isolated prehistoric artifacts were found during the survey, thirty-two new historic sites were located. None of the cultural sites are eligible for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places.
