Abstract : Coal mining/handling operations, as well as those of other powder-using industries, are occasionally interrupted by explosions and fires as a consequence of uncontrolled, fugitive flammable dusts. Damage to life and loss of capital are the unsatisfactory results. Hence, the development of powerful fire extinguishing/suppressing agents to stop these holocausts has become an increasingly important scientific challenge in today's energy and safety conscious world.
