Abstract : This report describes the results of an experimental investigation to determine the effects certain oxide additions have on the damping properties of a commerical glass (enamel) of known composition (Corning 0010) whose damping properties had previously been characterized. One of the aims of this investigation was to determine the effect the oxide additions had on the temperature at which peak damping occurred, singly and in combination. Past experience indicated the temperature of peak damping to be related to the viscosity of the glass. The results of this investigation indicated the temperature at which peak damping occurs (peak in the loss modulus curve) is related to the viscosity of the glass. (Author, modified-PL).
