Abstract : Review of the historical literature, manuscript and map sources, and interviews fail to indicate the presence of any known historical sites within the project area. Review of the archaeological literature, records of the Regional Ohio Historic Preservation Office, the site files of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History and Cleveland State University Archaeological Laboratory fail to reveal any known archaeological sites within the project area. Geological considerations suggest that the area was open for human occupation only after the retreat of the Wisconsin Glacier and the drainage of the Lake Erie basin to the Algonquin Stage sometime after 6200 years B.C. Ecological considerations would suggest that the area was suitable for human occupation following 6200 B.C. up until the time of Anglo-European settlement at 1797-8 A.D. Walk-over surface survey combines with extensive sub-surface test excavations failed to reveal any evidence of either historic or prehistoric cultural resources in the area. The extent of the presently available knowledge indicates that the proposed construction will not endanger or affect any known or suspected cultural resources of either the prehistoric or historic time periods.
