Abstract : Progress is reported on three tasks designed to develop remote sensing beach reconnaissance techniques applicable to the benthic, beach intertidal, and beach upland zones. Task 1 is designed to develop remote sensing indicators of important beach composition and physical parameters which will ultimately prove useful in models to predict beach conditions. Task 2 is designed to develop remote sensing techniques for survey of bottom features in the benthic zone. Task 3 is designed to develop radar processing techniques to delineate important beach intertidal and upland parameters and to better understand the potential of radar-derived information when used with optical sensor data.
