Abstract : Foundational works that may pave the way for utilizing localized surface plasmon resonances for plasma generation have been carried out.Super-resolved vibrational imaging of thin films has been demonstrated. A far-field microscope that allows correlated dark-field scatteringand surface enhanced Raman scattering measurements have been developed. Using methylene blue as model molecular system, chemicaltransformation induced by plasmon enhanced resonant excitation of adsorbates has been reported for the first time. Surface enhancedRaman scattering spectroscopy reveals that methylene blue is transformed to thionine through plasmon driven demethylation reaction.
