Abstract : This report presents a new integrated approach to investigating the effects of wave impacts on hull structure, equipment ruggedness, shock isolation seats, and human comfort in small high-speed planing craft. Acceleration data recorded during full-scale seakeeping trials are presented to illustrate lessons learned from deterministic studies of individual wave impacts, and use of a consistent wave impact load model is presented. Implications for further research are also presented.
